Oops! Hot Spagetti Sauce
Yeah, that hurts a bit when you get it on your face. I was making spagetti sauce last night and was blending it with a hand blender when I moved it the wrong way. Luckily I had let it cool a bit before blending. Still tasted good though.
I made a modified version of the one I learned at school.
Season to your taste, maybe start with less spices and add in as you go. This is a very rough guide since I made it up as I went. A bay leaf would have been nice but I forgot until too late.

Half an onion, small dice
sweat in small amount of oil
add 1 clove minced garlic
1/2 shredded carrot
1 piece small dice celery
cook a bit
add 1/2 teaspoon each dry basil, thyme, oregano, cayenne
pinch of salt & pepper
1/2 cup red wine or cooking burgundy
reduce about 1/2
add 2 cups chicken stock
small can tomato paste
1 large tomato, chopped
simmer about 20 min, COOL a bit, blend
