Frantic Birthday Shopping

I was reminded the other day that my younger, yet taller (and only) sister's birthday is in just short of 2 weeks. Ack! I only have one small thing so far. Then, of course, Selena's birthday is 3 weeks after that, and Ryan's 2 weeks after that. Since I had planned to do all my shopping online, that presents a rather tight deadline. Not to mention that I really don't have time to shop in the traditional way either; between class, homework, tests, dog stuff, and actually spending some time with the kids, my schedule is full. I have my final written exam and final cooking exam at the end of June, as well as a cooking exam practice to prepare for, then work experience for the rest of the summer and I have no idea what kind of hours they are expecting. I think I'm in for a busy summer!

So off to Niko's blog to see what she really wants this year. She is actually annoyingly easy to shop for but this year I want to make sure I really have something she wants and/or needs since she is thinning out stuff before the move back east. I can't say what I bought since she reads this blog from time to time. //wink//

Selena as usual wants everything under the sun, although this year it is mostly related to Japan, anime or goth. //sigh// Well, she's getting some anime that I bought ages ago, a DVD player, and a greyhound t-shirt I bought at a fundraiser. Hopefully, the shirt will arrive faster than the last things I bought at auction.

Ryan is also getting a DVD player (great sale at Walmart!), and as of today some books. I jumped on Bookcloseouts.com this morning looking for things for Niko (not that I got any) and found some Tolkien books for Ry. Oddly enough, he's also getting some sort of DVD but i have no idea what yet.

You Know It's Time to Walk Away From the TV When . . .

It's a toss up between a rerun of "America's Ugliest Bathroom" and "The Queen's Castle." Yuk! Saturday evening TV really bites.

I admit I did watch a bit of the bathroom show when it first aired, morbid curiosity I guess, but Doug Wilson drives me nuts, so I couldn't do that again. "The Queen's Castle" is all about Windsor Castle and could have been quite interesting if not presented in that dullest of dull CBC documentary style. I mean, how long can you listen to Prince Phillip drone on about trees before nodding off? //sigh//

The First Goblet of Fire Trailer Is Out

It's another Apple iTunes one, not very informative and I think both lead boys need a haircut, BUT it's very cool anyway! Goblet of Fire trailer.

Mismatched Socks - Is It Really a Tragedy?

I was watching What Not To Wear on Friday night and the hosts totally freaked because the target was wearing mismatched socks.

What is wrong with mismatched socks? Apparently it means you don't care about your appearance. Possibly. I think it means you have a crappy washer and/or dryer that eats socks. I do. At almost $5 a pair I am not going to throw out a perfectly good sock. Really, how often do people see your feet without shoes?

Personally, I do make an effort to find matching socks if I am going to be somewhere public that I need to take off my shoes (mosques, martial arts dojos, shoe stores, houses of people I have just met, etc). Seeing as that rarely happens, my day to day sockage is mismatched. So what? As long as Stacy and Clinton don't catch me on any secret footage and my feet are happy, I don't care. Mismatched sock wearers unite!! //Bwaa haaa haaaa haaa!!!//

According to those who know more about math than I do (which is almost everbody //snort//), it has to do with multiples of 9. It's fun anyway.

I Forgot One

And it's a biggie too! Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy finally makes it to the big screen. 20 years in the making and after the untimely death of creator Douglas Adams we finally get the movie version.

Since we had to take Ryan down to Victoria today, we decided to go early and catch the movie. It wasn't as bad as I was afraid it would be, in fact it was pretty good. It was kind of hard to let go of the images in my head from the book & tv series, although once I did I enjoyed it more. And I was happy it was a happy ending for Arthur.
