Photo Update

I've decided I'm not using any of those pics. While I was working lunch at Bistro, after telling me the new hair colour is perfect for me, Fatima tells me one of her hobbies is portrait photography (and she is good at it). Who knew? Anyway, she is going to take my portrait. Not sure when yet, maybe next Sunday. For the rest of lunch I kept catching her looking at me like she was already planning the pose and lighting. //laugh//

Famous People Night at Work

So Friday night we have a reservation at la Pommeraie for Mrs Munn, table of 3. My coworker lives in the same building as her and informs me that she is the mother of Colin James. Cool. We briefly chat about the possibilities of her bringing Colin for dinner and conclude that was pretty much nil.

Ha! We were wrong! Colin James had dinner at la Pommeraie with his mum and daughter. For those who want to know - they all had steak, Colin subbed spinach for the veg, no dessert. That was very cool! I've been humming "Just Came Back" ever since.

Oh, yeah, James Barber was also in that night.

Time to Vote - Which Pic?

Okay, I finally got a few pics taken. I'm not really happy with any of them, but these are the best of the lot. So which one is the best? You can click on them to make them a bit bigger.

Help! The more I look at them, the more I hate them all. //sigh//

Vanity update

So, I got my hair cut. I gave in and went to the cheapo place because both kids needed cuts too. The stylist I got didn't seem to be too experienced and I didn't get quite the cut I wanted but overall I think it's good. I did get complemented on the cut and colour when I was at Superstore post cut. //big smile//

Here's the real biggie - I bought makeup. Like, actual makeup, not just mascara and liner. Of course, I had to hide it from Selena (the main reason I hardly ever buy makeup). I found a nice foundation that doesn't make my skin itch and evens out that stupid cheek redness (yes, Carmindy is right, foundation rules). And I got a couple of nice shadows.

Yes, I will post pics when I get to that point. I decided the new shirt I got is a little too pale for pics and am now looking for a darker one. I'm suddenly a clothes maniac, now that I see how I look in things that fit. Yes, Niko, I know you told me that back in the summer. You were right.

For the Curious (ie Niko)

Yeah, that shirt. It's gone to the shirt graveyard along with the tapered stretch brown denim jeans and boots that buckled around the ankle that I wore with it. Ye gods, dressed like that it's a miracle he called at all. Eh-hem. . .

I guess I'll let you off the hook now. My nocturnal caller, or my "gentleman caller" as Fatima calls him, is none other than Gulzar my tour group driver, who I met in Pakistan all those years ago.

We kept in touch for a long time after that trip, I even had a trip booked to to go back (that I had to cancel when I got sick), then we lost contact. After that earthquake in October I sent him a note via his old employer to see if he was OK. I wasn't expecting an answer but I sure am happy I got one. I have no idea where it's going but am going to enjoy it!

Here is what he used to look like (he's on the left)

Speaking of new pics, when did you add that profile pic?

Vanity, Thy Name is Sue

I think I've gone to new lengths. Remember, we're talking about the person who had their passport photo taken at least 3 times before finally applying for a passport. And I'm still stuck for a few more years with a photo I hate. sigh.

Anyway, I've spoken several times lately to my nocturnal caller, who now mostly remembers time zones and calls when I'm awake. He sent me a letter with a recent picture of himself and now I have to send a recent one of me to him. //cough// I emailed him my Blogger profile pic but I want a better one. So far I have coloured my hair and bought new clothes (shirt and pants, even though I don't plan to send a full length pic). I am now considering getting my hair cut at an actual salon instead of the cheapo place or doing it myself like usual. All for a pic that I'm sending far away to someone I most likely won't see any time soon.

On the other hand, talking to him has made me incredibly happy, so a little pampering probably won't hurt. It's funny, I can't remember the last time I was this happy (or bought new clothes, but that's a whole different post). I've actually made an attempt to clean the house, like really clean it and I don't feel the usual depressed "where the hell do I start" business. Weird, but I'm loving it.
