Whole Lotta Waitin' Goin' On

Not to much going on around here except waiting for things . . .

I'm currently:
waiting to see if Ryan gets into the reserves in time for the summer basic course (update 11/06 - still waiting, he has to re-do the physical and do more push ups)
waiting for Selena to decide which summer camp programs she is interested in (update 11/06 - still waiting)
waiting for my ROE & vacation pay from Merridale (update 11/06 - got it, spent it!)
waiting to see if Gulzar has gotten the visa related to the couriering experience (update 11/06 - still waiting, faxed some additional stuff to the High Commission)
waiting for the shirts I ordered on Ebay to arrive (update 11/06 - still waiting, must email seller if doesn't arrive tomorrow)
waiting for John to finish rebuilding the chicken house so I can have my dog crate back ((update 11/06 - half is done, so the birds can now sleep outside and I can bleach out the crate)
waiting for a work schedule so I can plan some lunch & coffee with friends (update 11/06 - ha,ha,ha! yeah, right)

A few good things happened though - the dogs got a clean bill of health and Cuinn has one more year on his rabies vax, Selena is in a much better mood since I have been working less and I got a bit of a raise at work.

Just Tell Me Where It Is Already!

Arrghh!! I sent some documents to Pakistan on Monday via Canada Post/Purolator, it's supposed to take 4 to 6 days. I can say they are updating their tracking more often than when I sent a Christmas gift to the States via Expedited but sheesh, it makes no sense.

From the Canada Post site:

So, where exactly is the envelope? I know it's on the other side of the world because it's still the 12th here. Other than that, I have no idea. I guess I wait for delivery. . .

Update:
I've been watching since yesterday and their have been a few more "Item is enroute to the Delivery Office" and "Item is enroute to the Sortation Plant". I figured it's gotta be delivered soon, though probably not today since it's already Sunday in Pakistan. I just looked at the Purolator site and all it says is to call the 1-888 #, no tracking chart or anything. I call, type in the tracking # and the message says I'm being forwarded to the call centre, which is of course closed. sigh. Still no idea where in the world the envelope is. //sigh//

Update #2:
It's arrived! And within the 4 to 6 days advertised. It was delivered last night, or this morning Pakistan time. No, I'm not just relying on those stupid websites //grrr//, I've heard from the recipient that it arrived as well. Phew! Next time, should I need a next time, I'll spend the big bucks and use DHL or FedEx.

Day 1, 2, 10, 15 . . .

I never thought I'd be complaining about too much work, and I'm not, really. Just tired! Today is day 18 in row. Somewhere last week I had 2 double shifts but lately at least it's been singles, sometimes not even a full shift. Still, I'd like a day or two off to let my brain catch up, not mention do some laundry . . .

Wonder Woman?

One of the reasons I like working at Bistro is that everyone is nuts. One day last week lunch service was getting busy, as usual Fatima was doing three things at once and Chris was teasing her - "who do you think you are, Wonder Woman?" Then she was heading upstairs to get something and Chris joked about her going to get her cape. Well, she comes back into the kitchen with wearing her plastic silver tiara, a floral tablecloth tied around her neck and holding 2 mixing bowls strategically across her chest.

We laughed so hard I think we scared the customers! I really wish I had a picture of that one, it doesn't sound near as funny in words . . .
