A Weird George Lucas Moment

Yes, even stranger than the dream I had where I won a contest at Comic Con to interview Mr. Lucas. The dream itself wasn't that strange I guess, but unless money falls from the sky, we aren't going to Comic Con until next year.

I digress - the weird moment was coming across this very inflammatory article called "Lucas Creates Sex Candy Toy for Kids 2 and Up." Well, what a way to piss off a die hard George Lucas fan. I had a great huge long rant prepared in defence of my beloved George when I dug further into the site and discovered the whole thing is a parody. And a very good one at that. Somehow I wouldn't be surprised if someone saw the odious Jar Jar Binks candy in "that" way. I never thought about it much seeing as I hate the Jar Jar character and didn't buy that particular candy. Also, the Jar Jar candy isn't the only phallic shaped candy licensed by Lucasfilm, I had lovely blue light sabre candy before my kids ate it. Oh, no! Was it evil?

Why "my beloved George", you may ask? I'm not entirely sure why but I have a huge crush on George Lucas. I'm sure it has to do with his incredible imagination, business savvy and possibly the plaid shirts. However, he is cute in a cuddly sort of way. I know it's not a father figure thing, I'm not really partial to facial hair either, and he's most definitely not the tallish, black-haired, green-eyed Irish or possibly Welsh guy of my dreams (that's another blog altogther . . .).

Pet Peeve Time

\\rant\\ I have discovered an annoying hobby that seems to be rampant here in the lovely Cowichan Valley: writing in library books! In INK!!

Grrrr.... Not only are these people defacing public property, they are ruining my reading pleasure. The last three times I have been to the library at least one book in my selection has been written in. This would be-editor (or editors, Heaven forbid there be more than one!) takes it upon themselves to correct editing mistakes, add definitions, and make other misc plot notes. IN INK! Right in the text! At least something written in pencil in the margins can be erased or more easily ignored.

I tell you, I'm almost to the point of hunting down this Book Defacer and tatooing something rude across their forehead. Sheesh. \\ end rant \\

That was fast.

Yes, another post today. I happened to peek at Niko Blathers On . . ., what should I see but a personality test and a name acronym thingy. I love those!

So, I am

I am the sonnet, never quickly thrilled;
Not prone to overstated gushing praise
Nor yet to seething rants and anger, filled
With overstretched opinions to rephrase;
But on the other hand, not fond of fools,
And thus, not fond of people, on the whole;
And holding to the sound and useful rules,
Not those that seek unjustified control.
I'm balanced, measured, sensible (at least,
I think I am, and usually I'm right);
And when more ostentatious types have ceased,
I'm still around, and doing, still, alright.
In short, I'm calm and rational and stable -
Or, well, I am, as much as I am able.
What Poetry Form Are You?

Not bad, now for the Name Acronym. I've run all my assorted pseudonyms just for the heck of it.

Sometime in the next few days I may explain why I have so many pseudonyms and why they all start with "S".

Ever wonder about

those signs and community newspaper ads all over the place that say you can work at home and get rich? I came across this great expose/explanation while digging into a work at home posting on a job board. What annoys me the most is that the posting was on the Media Job Search Canada board in the "Multimedia, Animation, Website/Internet and Information Technology Positions" section. Yeah, right.

The Force

was with me, finally I got to see the Just Shoot Me with George Lucas! Of course, he was only in it for about 10 seconds at the end so it was a bit anticlimactic. Still that's one thing off my long list of things I need to watch.

Hopefully, the Force will stay with me this afternoon. I'm off to write a math test. Blech! It's part of the entry requirement for the Culinary Arts program I hope to get into, so I guess that makes it a neccesary evil. It was kind of strange studying for it - I can't remember the last time I actually did any math.
